Local First
Why Local First exists
The trusted way to find local trades — and a place for good local businesses to be recognised.

The brand
Local First
Local First is the platform. South Tyneside is the first community it serves — not the company name, and not the identity. The long-term idea is deliberate expansion, community by community.
The problem we kept seeing
Finding a local business should be simple. In practice it has become a contest of noise — adverts, open directories, scores that can be gamed, and posts that vanish in a day.
A firm can look huge online and still provide a poor experience. A small independent doing an incredible job can be almost invisible. Local First exists because being local should mean something again.
We are trying to become one of the most trusted — not the biggest overnight.
Community first
A network of communities — not one enormous generic database
Local First is designed to grow community by community. The first launch focuses on South Tyneside. The brand does not. Each community should keep its own identity while remaining part of the same Local First idea.
Starts local
South Tyneside is where the journey begins. It is the first market, not the whole story.
Keeps its identity
A new community should feel like itself — not a cloned version of the last one.
Stays Local First
The name, the standards and the promise stay the same wherever we go next.
